Motion

If we moved

we could only see each other

all would blur

but us

we’d topple the fortress

seize the city and it’s riches

swiftly over the mountain

our toes grazing the peak

like stones we’d skip along the raging sea

and be home by bedtime

but we stand still

we see only

the citadel

the gates

the height

the waters

not ourselves

or each other anymore
