. . for our whole life on earth involves trouble; and through the troubles of our earthly pilgrimage we find God.” – St. Augustine
The laments of humanity echo through time with a feeling of abandonment. If somehow God hid Hid face and His love from us when we are suffering. It is not so. For the wisdom of these events are spoken in a different language than our own. With quiet and introspection we may be able to translate it in part. In time it will be our own words and they will speak better than any we had known.
What happens is for our good and even what is seemingly evil and repugnant God will make into something pure and good for us. If we surrender. We must abide and trust in His love. The pain of loss and illness and all the plagues of this world can serve for our good. Once we let the hands of the Master handle them and let go we are not limited by our narrow view. We can see into eternity.
“Adversity reveals genius, prosperity conceals it.” -Horace
Our tests are many in this life and from these lessons we can be beautiful and real. Overcoming all these struggles takes keen faith and openness to the solutions God offers us in many guises. We must not turn away the messengers of God. He uses all for our good and sometimes we must be striped bare to be clothed in grace and truly be one with Him.
“See that you are not suddenly saddened by the adversities of this world, for you do not know the good they bring, being ordained in the judgments of God for the everlasting joy of the elect.” -St John of the Cross
It is easy to fall in distress the world gives a thousand miseries in the course of a day. If we have a need God will fill it in His goodness. If we see a need it so we may do God’s work. Let us be active in seeking these moments and open to receiving in our own needs remembering that all is from the hand of God. May we at all times live in thanksgiving. All is for our good and nothing shall be wasted.
