hollow

your footsteps
echo
in my hollow head
empty rooms and hallways
filled with nothing
only the holes you bore

into the fragile walls
your fingerprints smudged, clear, and bruising
I feel them fresh and awake as when you made them
the pressure sweet and hard
My heart is hollow too
ringing with the memory of the rhythms
steady and frenzied
now just a stillness
You remain my link to Heaven
a chain of bone and muscle
strong enough pull me down into hell
or hold me here with the weight of you
