The night we burned Xanadu

I lit the match

a flame to cleanse

to destroy

save the memory

preserve it’s glory

a heat that nothing could survive

Not even Suzanne with a ‘z’

we laughed at the ashes

roasted weenies on the burning embers

until we realized

like a phoenix she rose

stronger than before
